InterMission was founded in November 1987 and celebrated its 20th Anniversary in the Fall of 2007 with a Hollywood Gala event where Grace Hill Media's Jonathan Bock presented the first annual David Schall Lifetime Achievement Award (named after its founder) to writer/producer David McFadzean (Home Improvement, What Women Want).

IM meets 6 times a year to screen the latest television shows and film projects, followed by a discussion of creative behind-the-scenes stories with an emphasis of how faith influences the decisions of those involved in the project. Drawing hundreds of industry professionals per event, some of the 350+ speakers have included Randall Wallace (Braveheart), Ralph Winter (X-Men), Patricia Heaton (Everyone Loves Raymond), Martha Williamson (Touched by an Angel), Victoria Jackson (SNL), and even special non-industry speakers like Josh McDowell (Da Vinci Code event), Senator Sam Brownback (Amazing Grace event) and Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie (former Chaplain US Senate).

"InterMission is invested in the Hollywood community - our members currently represent over 50 different churches in the Los Angeles area, and every major studio, network, and distributor in town," comments InterMission Director, Brenda Salmon. IM co-sponsored (with Regent University) April 1st's Candlelight Forum at the DGA, featuring Kathie Lee Gifford and Carol Burnett, honoring Tim Conway. In May, IM hosted an invitation only screening of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian featuring the movie's key decision makers plus a C.S. Lewis expert at the Pacific Grove Theatre.

There are numerous ways InterMission has served the unique needs of this community. Other means of support for our community is through professional and relationship seminars. We serve as a hub for people within Hollywood as well as for professionals who are seeking to transition from out-of-state or from other countries. Our organization exists to help create a family environment so when people arrive they have a spiritual, professional and relational support team already in place.

"One of our members calls InterMission a 'barometer' of what's happening in 'the biz' - our goal is to create top-notch live events, panel discussions, and a place where people can feel inspired about the good things that are happening in Hollywood. We search and find projects that are important to our member's professional, spiritual, and personal growth - then share that information through our website with hundreds of thousands of people each year," comments Salmon.

Membership is extended to all who are professionals in the film/TV/music/theatre fields and have a personal faith in Jesus Christ. Membership is not limited to just those who live locally. People from all over the country share our vision and want to support us financially wishing to make an organic difference from the inside out. Membership is open only to working professionals, but events are occasionally open to the general public.

Our "retro-futuristic" website (being renovated) provides a Master Calendar of all the entertainment ministries events; links to the various entertainment ministries, referral list of local churches, entertainment news, recommended books and a whole lot more. We recommend before anyone comes to visit to refer to our calendar to make the most of their trip.

To find out more about what God is doing in Hollywood (the most influential mission field), go to www.IMHollywood.org or call 818-655-6148. We are looking for churches across America to partner with us as an extension of their missions department to help reach the world by internally impacting the most powerful and persuasive medium. Donations can be made through our parent organization www.HEAUSA.org. InterMission is a member of the Hollywood Entertainment Alliance 501(c)3.

We appreciate your prayers for God's guidance as we endeavor to make a difference in Hollywood and ultimately the world.
